The Petharbor website (which is the website supported by the Shelter’s animal inventory software system) provides the ability to post a lost or found pet on-line. Registering a found animal at this website populates a site that is linked to the Animal Services web page. There are several steps to register a found dog.
Next, enter your zip code and select “found a pet”
Check the box for Garland Animal Services and click on the “use this shelter list” button
Select dogs as the animal type
Select the link “register your found pet”
Once you complete this information (you can attach a picture of the animal) you will receive a confirmation email. When you verify the information by clicking on a link in the confirmation email, the dog’s information will be put on Petharbor.
Garland residents can view animals found by the public at Garlandanimalservices.org. Select “lost animals”, then “lost dogs” and at the bottom of the page you’ll find a link for “show pets found by the public”. The animal you found that was registered at Petharbor will show up on this list.
Current city registration tags are required by city ordinance on all cats and dogs ages three months and older. Garland Animal Services has a holding period of 6 days for tagged animals and 3 days for untagged animal. This helps to ensure that a pet is still at the shelter in the event an owner is out of town or otherwise unavailable. All animals are also scanned for micro chips as they enter the shelter.
