The Housing & Neighborhood Services, Neighborhood Development division administers affordable housing programs that assist families meeting program eligibility guidelines with the acquisition of clean, decent and affordable housing.
Housing and Neighborhood Programs
We are dedicated to reviving the social and economic conditions of residents in addition to stabilizing their existing housing units and neighborhoods.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Programs offered thru the Neighborhood Services Department:
Single Family Rehabilitation Program - Major Home Repairs.
Minor Repair Grant - Health and Safety repairs up to $5000
People Helping People Program- Volunteer Program to provide exterior home painting to eligible residents
Neighborhood Enhancement Program - Sidewalks, and Speed Bumps for Garland neighborhoods
HOME Programs offered thru the Neighborhood Services Department:
First Time Homebuyer Program - $10,000 available to first time homebuyers to pay for closing cost and principle reduction.
American Dream Downpayment Initiative - $10,000 available to use eligible buyers to assist with closing cost of purchasing a new home.
HOME Infill Program - New homes sold to first time homebuyers with a $10,000 down payment assistance available
