Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The NAACP—Garland will host its 29th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. The parade will begin on Dairy Road at Garden Drive (near Embree Park).

Following the parade, the public is invited to attend a special MLK Commemorative Program at 11:45 a.m. at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St.

The weekend celebration will continue at the 2018 Garland MLK Youth Extravaganza at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Granville Arts Center. Youth groups from area churches and the Garland ISD will showcase their talents in praise dance, drill team and step routines.
